Unravel: The Power and Politics of Textiles Exhibition

Friday 26th April 2024 I went to the Barbican Centre with my auntie Denise to the Unravel The Power and Politics of Textiles Art Exhibition. We travelled there on the Elizabeth and Hammersmith and City lines from Ilford to Barbican. The Exhibition shows how textiles cover and protect us, engage our senses, trigger our memories, represent our beliefs, hold our stories. We are wrapped in cloth when we’re born and enshrouded in it when we die. In this major group exhibition, 50 international, intergenerational artists use textiles to communicate vital ideas about power, resistance and survival. Afterwards  we went to Zizzi’s St Pauls where and I had bruschetta and pizza with chicken and pepperoni, for dessert I had a honey comb cheesecake which was delicious.   6. That looks like a really interesting exhibition Nathan. I particularly liked the big pile of wool. The tapestries were really colourful too.
