Afternoon tea at Eastbury Manor House

Friday 22Apr16 I visited Eastbury Manor House in Barking to have a look around and have afternoon tea with my Nanny Pat and my Aunt Denise. For my afternoon I had sandwiches, cakes and fresh orange. We were the only people at the house so we had it all to ourselves and my food was delicious especially the cakes. After the tea we were given a tour of the house by a very nice warden called Kim. The house is owned by the National Trust and has a very long history going back to the 7th century. Kim explained what the rooms were used for and also gave me a booklet all about the house. Kim said that I was a very polite young man and it had been a pleasure to meet me. The house now hold functions and parties and have just started doing afternoon tea to help with the running costs of the house. At the end of our tour Kim was just about to close the house and she aksed me to help lock the door which I did. Kim said she does not normally let anybody else do this so I was very lucky to do this. On the way home we walked to Upney Station then got the train to Barking where we caught the 169 bus home. I had a great day with my Nan and Aunt and I really enjoyed the tea and the tour of the house.
