Work Experience at Gilbert Colvin

Friday 15Apr16 I did some work experience at Gilbert Colvin Primary School. This is where until recently my mum Natalie worked. I arrived at the school around 10am and mum introduced me to the ladies in the office. I then met again the Headteacher Debbie who asked me if I would like to work with the IT Network Manager Peter. Peter was a very nice man and showed me how to update all the Apple Macintosh computers in the school. I then went around the school updating all the computers which I enjoyed doing. After this Peter showed me how to scan the new library books onto the system using the scanner and inputting the book details into the system. For lunch we went to the new cafe at Tesco Barkingside and I had a nice chicken wrap. In the afternoon I carried on working with Peter on the computer finishing off the scanning of the books. I enjoyed this work experience more than I thought I would and it was very nice to meet all the staff at Gilbert Colvin, including Bindu, Jatinda, Antonia and the gang.

  1. Glad you enjoyed it Nathan, must’ve been nice to meet all your mum’s work colleagues & I know you love working on computers, so that was a good job for you to do…well done!

  2. Gosh so grown up Nathan, sounds like you were very productive. Hope you’re going back to do some more!

  3. It looks like you had a very interesting day and learnt a lot. I am really impressed by how many different things you are trying. Some of our pupils are going to try short work experience placements at Hatton this term. Maybe this is something you might want to ask about in the next school year.
